Parent involvement is important to the success of our program. Our student-athletes need your help getting to and from practices and regattas. Our coaches need your help with setting up the team area at regattas and with timely response to emails and communication. Our program needs your help staffing the committees that allow us to be successful. Just as important and helping the team, we encourage our parents to try rowing and see for themselves why their kids love this sport so much!
Communication, especially around regattas, is primarily sent to parents and not to our rowers. This often includes items such as uniform costs, regatta carpool lists and rooming assignments, directions to the regatta, etc. When communications are sent out, we expect our parents to help by responding to those requests as quickly as possible.
As with most youth sports, involved parents running team committees are what make everything possible. We are looking for two to three parents per committee to help with marketing and public relations, transportation, regatta support and fundraising. Please speak with a coach if you are interested.
Learning to Row
One of the best parts about our sport is being able to go out and enjoy the water! Through our partnership with Traverse Area Community Rowing, we are able to offer adult recreational and competitive rowing to our parents. TACR offers sweep and sculling programs ranging from learn to row all the way up to competitive rowing. The best part, their program often travels with ours to summer and fall regattas so you can compete and be there to cheer on the team!
